Duty to wear masks
Wearing a protective mask on public transport is compulsory throughout Switzerland.
The cantons have different regulations on additional mask requirements.
In the canton of Bern, masks are compulsory in all public indoor areas. This includes railway stations, shops, sports centres (except in training areas), churches and restaurants. In restaurants and bars, the mask may only be taken off when sitting at a table.
Masks are available in the Coop supermarket, souvenir shops and at all serviced stations of the Schilthorn and Jungfrau Railways.
Mürren and Gimmelwald are accessible as usual. The cable cars to the Schilthorn and Allmendhubel are in operation.
All operations operate in compliance with the protection concept. There are no restrictions on the number of people transported in the cable cars.
The hotels, restaurants, shops and the Alpine Sports Centre are open. Sometimes the number of guests allowed is limited. The companies work in compliance with the protection concepts.
The practice in Mürren is closed.
The practice in Lauterbrunnen is open and offers consultation hours in the afternoon for people with symptoms of a respiratory tract infection. This takes place separately in the garage. Swab tests are carried out according to the criteria of the BAG.

Good to know
The holiday village Mürren is busy in summer as well as in winter. The ski season lasts from mid December to the end of April. Only in November it's quiet on the roads.

We recommend to carry cash on you, as payment with cards is sometimes not possible, especially in mountain restaurants and small shops.

Parking in the Lauterbrunnen Valley
Multi-storey car park Lauterbrunnen
You will find the Lauterbrunnen car park at the entrance to the village, Lauterbrunnen railway station. Parking spaces can be reserved online for a minimum of 5 days (winter). Please enter the parking code upon arrival. A separate reservation must be made for each car.
Schilthornbahn car park in Stechelberg
We recommend holiday guests to use the prepayment ticket.
Guests take a ticket at the entrance and go to the ticket machine. Before introducing the ticket, the guest selects the prepayment ticket button and pays the requested amount of CHF 40.00, CHF 65.00 or CHF 80.00.
This ticket is now recoded and allows to go in and out as often as wished for 7, 14 or 30 consecutive days.
When leaving the station, the ticket is returned by the automatic exit control system.
Baggage transport and taxi
The reliable Swiss railway network offers you a luggage transport service from station to station or from door to door. This service is also available outside of Switzerland.

Mürren and it's surroundings are closely linked to nature. Here it is important to stick to natures rules and treat the environment with respect.
The weather can change quickly and unexpectedly in the mountains. Always equip yourself accordingly and only go on tours that are appropriate for your abilities.
In winter, pay particular attention to the avalanche situation.
Hiking trails partly lead across cow pastures. Hikers are guests of the animals there.
Keep your distance, do not touch the calves and do not lead your dog across the pasture if this can be avoided.
Each overnight visitor staying in Mürren or Gimmelwald has the right to receive the guest card.
