Travelling by public transport

Switzerland is located in the heart of Europe - and has one of the best railway networks in the world. It is served directly by international trains from over 12 countries. Within Switzerland, you can take direct trains from Zurich and Basel to Interlaken Ost - and thus to the Jungfrau Region. From Geneva, you have to change trains in Bern. Interlaken Ost is also the terminus of the ICE Frankfurt-Braunschweig-Berlin and the EC Karlsruhe-Mainz-Cologne-Düsseldorf-Amsterdam.

The Regional Pass is available in summer for 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 days. It is valid on almost all public transport in the Bernese Oberland and offers reduced fares for excursions to the Valais, Central Switzerland and even as far as Lake Geneva. The Bernese Oberland Regional Pass is available at tourist centres and railway ticket offices.

For free travel throughout Switzerland, we recommend the Swiss Travel Pass.
The Junior Card is suitable for families. It is available at railway counters, post offices and Tourist Centres.

With the SBB Luggage Special, your luggage is collected from any address within Switzerland and transported to selected accommodation within two days - and back again, of course.

Travel in a climate-friendly and relaxed way by public transport and discover the Jungfrau Region on two wheels. Would you like to take your own bike or racing bike with you? No problem: SBB will transport your bike from station to station. You can also take it with you on the train and in many buses. You can find all the information here.

How do I get to the resorts?

The way to most resorts is via Interlaken.
From there on you simply head for the high mountains.

How to get to Grindelwald

Arriving by public transport
From Interlaken Ost railway station, you can reach Grindelwald without changing trains by taking the Bernese Oberland Railways (BOB) train. Important: you need to board at the back of the train because it splits at Zweilütschinen. If you get on at the front of the train, it will take you to Lauterbrunnen. The journey to Grindelwald Terminal (V-cableway) takes 29 minutes. Five minutes later, you will be at the terminus in the village.

Grindelwald has three railway stations (Terminal, Grund and Dorf). The terminus (Dorf) is located in the centre of the village of Grindelwald.

Arriving by car
Starting in Interlaken, follow the main road to Zweilütschinen. Turn left here to head towards Grindelwald. The journey takes about 40 minutes and involves a road that is partly winding and, depending on the weather, may be covered in snow (Danger of black ice in winter!).

Parking
There are three public car parks: Parkhaus Eiger+ multi-storey car park (252 parking spaces), Parkhaus Sportzentrum multi-storey car park (160 parking spaces) and the new Terminal Parking of the V-cableway (1,000 spaces). Alternatively, you can use the car park at Grindelwald Grund.
