Sustainability
Tourism and sustainability cannot be completely reconciled. However, the Jungfrau Region strives to have a positive influence on nature, society and the economy.

Energy
Generating electricity with sun, water and wood
Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG produces electricity on a large scale with its 13 hydroelectric power stations and eight storage lakes and Holzwärme Grindelwald generates energy from wood. But many railways, hotels and adventure providers also generate energy from natural resources.

Nature
Ecosystem worth protecting
The Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch is a World Heritage Site. This is a distinction that also entails obligations.
And with the Cultural Landscape Award, particularly valuable landscapes are
honoured - and promoted - every year.

Transport
Environmentally conscious railways
More rail, less road. The Jungfrau Region has excellent public transport connections. Even from abroad. Many railways are implementing additional sustainable measures. With Mürren and Wengen, two of the most beautiful villages are even car-free.

Regional products
Made in Jungfrau Region
Vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy products, honey, tea, beer, clothes, souvenirs and much more: those who produce and buy local products make a significant contribution to sustainability.

People
They give sustainable tourism a face
They guide school classes through the UNESCO World Heritage Site on the subject of biodiversity. Explain to guests from Switzerland and abroad how water energy works. Produce their own products in the alpine cheese dairy. We introduce the people who are doing something for sustainability in the Jungfrau Region.

More
And many more
Numerous other businesses are committed to sustainability. An overview.

Swisstainable
A label that obliges
As a tourism organisation, we set a good example and support the Swisstainable sustainability programme of Switzerland Tourism. We have already applied for Level 1 - and received it. Jungfrau Region Tourism AG is thus committed to sustainable business management and is continuously developing its operations in the direction of sustainability.
