From Spiez to the Grimsel Pass

Summer hiking pleasure

Hiking with luggage transport

There are moments when everything is just right: sitting exhausted and happy among the stones and grasses at the top of the mountain. The view is clear and wide over the valley in the distance, the afternoon sun is mild, you are at peace with yourself, with the forests, meadows and paths you have encountered that day...

Even if the Jungfrau region is too beautiful to be true, it is: the mountains rise far into the sky, the valleys dig deep into the ground. Wild rivers carve their way through the rock and rush over huge waterfalls until they come to rest in Lakes Thun and Brienz.

The daily stages can be very individually arranged with lots of tips.

Day 1: Arrival in Spiez

Nestled between hills and vineyards, Spiez on Lake Thun invites you to linger in its mild climate.

Overnight stay: In Spiez

Day 2: Merligen – Interlaken

The spectacular lake landscape of Lake Thun and the imposing mountain peaks of the Bernese Oberland form the backdrop to this hike. The tourist centre of Interlaken with the Höhenmatte and the historic hotels forms the end of the stage.

Hiking time: 4 h
Overnight stay: In Wilderswil or Interlaken

Day 3: Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen – Mürren

The landscapes around Interlaken are extremely enticing. A varied, very rewarding valley hike through forest, fields and villages, past historic sites to Lauterbrunnen and Mürren.

Hiking time: 4 h
Overnight stay: In Mürren

Day 4: Mürren – Lauterbrunnen – Wengen

The rear Lauterbrunnen Valley is a magical place. Meadows and forests, icy, rocky north faces, numerous waterfalls. Quite simply a unique spectacle!

Hiking time: 5 h
Overnight stay: In Wengen

Day 5: Wengen – Kleine Scheidegg – Eigertrail – Alpiglen – Grindelwald

The view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate is unique. The hike below the Eiger in the direction of Alpiglen is no less spectacular. The rugged flanks of the Mönch and Jungfrau and the perfectly shaped Silberhorn in front of them become more and more prominent. The view over the Grindelwald valley is wide.

Hiking time: 5 h
Overnight stay: In Grindelwald

Day 6: Grindelwald – Grosse Scheidegg – Meiringen

The mighty Wetterhornwand on the Grosse Scheidegg, which towers up almost vertically, is impressive. The nearby mountain giants and glaciers, the many torrents and the magnificent flora make this hike an unforgettable experience.

Hiking time: 4 to 5 h
Overnight stay: In Meiringen

Day 7: Meiringen – Grimselwelt – Grimselpass

Today you can put together your own stage in Grimselwelt. Walk in the footsteps of the muleteers on the Grimsel Pass? Ride the Gelmerbahn - the steepest open funicular railway in Europe. Or indulge in culinary delights at the historic Alpinhotel Grimsel Hospiz. You're spoilt for choice.

Day 8: Hike and departure

Hike to the Sidelhorn and individual departure.
