Between the villages of Meiringen and Innertkirchen, the Aare has eroded a course over thousands of years, creating a 1.4 kilometre long gorge up to 200 metres deep. On a walk through the Aare Gorge, you can feel the power of nature like in hardly any other place. Under your feet, the icy glacier water pushes relentlessly through the narrow gorge and above you, huge rock faces rise to seemingly endless heights.
