Rope bridge construction

Hand in hand, stretch a self-built rope bridge over the Grindelwald Glacier Gorge and test it straight away.

Do you want to pull together? Build a bridge together over the 100-metre-deep Grindelwald Glacier Gorge near Interlaken and then walk across it? Then our "rope bridge building" programme is just the thing for you.

We reach the glacier gorge of the Lower Grindelwald Glacier on foot or by coach or local bus. We immediately set off to marvel at the glacier gorge from above, which involves a short hike. Competently instructed by our IVBV mountain guides, you make a bridge from individual ropes, which is then spanned across the gorge with combined forces. Will the bridge hold? A little adrenalin is sure to be released and it will also take some courage to cross the gorge on the self-built bridge. Once you've finished, you'll enjoy a drink in your rucksack and chat about your exploits. Afterwards, you can visit the glacier gorge. This gives you an impressive contrasting view from below, on a secured footbridge, of the rock faces shooting up into the sky and the glacier mills that have been built over the centuries.

Your OUTDOOR guides will be happy to tell you about the history of the glacier gorge in geological terms, but also about the economic benefits of the gorge for tourism in the Jungfrau Region.

Still haven't had enough mountain sports adventures? Have you been tempted to climb vertically through a rock face for a while? An introduction to rock climbing or an impressive abseil down the rock face of the glacier gorge is an ideal addition to the rope bridge building programme, especially for larger groups. This additional programme item allows us to avoid longer waiting times by running our programme twice for you. For the "Climbing and abseiling" programme, you will be expertly guided and supervised by OUTDOOR mountain guides.

This event enhances the following team-building effects:

The joint knotting of a rope bridge and the subsequent walking on it, automatically leads to more trust in the group and yourself and consolidates the positive view of the joint success as a member of the employee team.

After building the rope bridge, a visit to the glacier gorge is a good idea. The footbridge was restored in spring 2016 and the gorge was equipped with attractions, including a large walkable net over the roaring Lütschine.
