The Lauterbrunnen Valley is the valley of 72(!) waterfalls. Water is everywhere you go in the Jungfrau Region – and not just in the form of waterfalls. You’ll see it in lakes, outdoor pools, streams and rivers. Water also carves its way through deep gorges here. You can even see the magic of water in its frozen form.

From the greatest heights to deep underground

The Staubbach Waterfall is the key landmark of Lauterbrunnen and the highest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland. The Trümmelbach Waterfalls are the largest underground waterfalls in Europe. And at the Reichenbach Waterfall, you can follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes.

GORGES

One region, four gorges

Gorges are formed when water carves a path through the rock over tens of thousands of years. The results are spectacular. Always worth a visit.

To the canyons

From the Bachalpsee to the Engstlensee

Mountain lakes are always a popular destination for hikes. They are wonderful places to stop for a break and something to eat from your packed lunch. You might like to walk around them, take a quick dip, or “just” take photos. The Jungfrau Region has so many beautiful mountain lakes to marvel at.

GLACIERS

The largest ice flow in the Alps

The Great Aletsch Glacier is almost 20 kilometres long, making it the largest ice flow in the Alps. It’s just one of the Jungfrau Region’s many glaciers.
