A gentle morning mist, sunbeams on glacier peaks and water dancing in rainbows – the Jungfrau Region offers perspectives that will amaze you. These five photo spots show you the most beautiful sides of the mountains – and perhaps you will also discover your very own view of the world.
Cliff Walk – Thrill with a view
Up here, you feel as if you are floating above the Alps: the First Cliff Walk winds spectacularly along the rock face and ends on a platform with an unobstructed view of the Eiger. The bridge, which extends around 45 metres out, is sure to give you goose bumps and is one of the most impressive photo opportunities in the Jungfrau Region.
Arrival: Take the Firstbahn cable car from Grindelwald (approx. 25 mins)
Ticket: Mountain trip to First required
Staubbachfall – the dancing water of Lauterbrunnen
Like a silver veil, the Staubbach Falls plunge 290 metres into the depths – and transform into a sparkling play of mist and rainbows in the sunlight. No wonder it inspired Goethe. The view is particularly magical in the morning, when the first rays of sunshine illuminate the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
Arrival: 5 minutes' walk from Lauterbrunnen railway station
Ticket: Not necessary (only train to Lauterbrunnen)
Royal Walk – panoramic view from Männlichen
The Royal Walk is a themed trail that leads from the mountain station to the summit of Männlichen. In just 30 minutes, you can reach the ‘crown’ of Männlichen and be rewarded with a 360° view of the Bernese Oberland with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Arrival: Take the cable car from Wengen or Grindelwald Terminal
Ticket: mountain trip to Männlichen required
Triftbrücke – Adventure between sky and glacier
The 170-metre-long Trift Bridge near Gadmen is one of the most spectacular suspension bridges in the Alps. Swinging high above turquoise-blue glacier water, it offers a unique view between rock, sky and ice. The route there is just as impressive as the destination itself.
Arrival: From Gadmen with the Triftbahn cable car, then around 1.5–2 hours' hike
Ticket: Mountain trip required
Thrill Walk Birg – floating perspectives on the Schilthorn
The Thrill Walk at the Schilthorn is a treat for adrenaline junkies and photographers alike. Glass floors, wire ropes and mesh tunnels lead spectacularly along the cliff face – with views of Murren, the rear Lauterbrunnen Valley and the snow-capped peaks of the Alps.
Arrival: From Stechelberg, take the Schilthorn cable car to Birg station
Ticket: Mountain railway ticket to Birg
