Hiking in spring

There is still snow in the high mountains of the Jungfrau Region, while spring is already showing its best side in the valleys. We have selected five hikes for you that you can easily do in May. What are you waiting for? Lace up your hiking boots and off you go!

Grütschalp - Winteregg - Mürren: in front of the eyes of the triumvirate

This hike offers fantastic views of the world-famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate. You can easily reach Grütschalp from Lauterbrunnen by aerial cableway. From here, the family-friendly panoramic hike leads high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley to Mürren in around an hour and a half. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments in the car-free alpine village. Refreshed, you can then take the train back to Grütschalp in comfort.

Grindelwald - Bussalp: past the imposing Abbach Fall

This moderately difficult hike takes around two and a half hours uphill. Along the way, it is worth stopping at the Abbach Falls, which can carry a lot of water depending on the season. Shortly before reaching your destination, you will pass the idyllic alpine huts in Holzmattenläger. It is then not far along the stream to Bussalp, where you can recover from your exertions in the restaurant. You can then take the bus back to Grindelwald in 25 minutes.

Wengen - Kleine Scheidegg: past the slopes of the Lauberhorn downhill run

On the classic pass trail from Wengen via Wengernalp to Kleine Scheidegg, you will cover around 800 metres in altitude in just over two and a half hours. The medium-difficulty hike first leads along a tarmac road, later on a wide forest road, past the slopes of the legendary Lauberhorn downhill run. It offers magnificent views of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate. The Wengernalp Railway takes you back to the starting point of the hike.

Hiking on the Hasliberg: the water trail

This easy hike on alpine roads and dirt tracks takes just over an hour. The route leads gently downhill from Bidmi (accessible by gondola cableway from Hasliberg Reuti). It is attractive in both sunny and rainy weather. Lake Bidmi and the Hasliberg bathing lake are located along the way. You also cross several torrents on the way. You then take the PostBus back to Hasliberg Reuti.

Lauterbrunnen - Stechelberg: more waterfalls are not possible

Marvel at three of the most impressive waterfalls in the Jungfrau Region in less than two hours on an easy hike suitable for pushchairs. You can only do this in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. From Staubbachfall Waterfall, the trail leads along the White Lütschine River via Trümmelbach Waterfalls to Mürrenbach Waterfall. A PostBus will take you from Stechelberg back to Lauterbrunnen.
