Meiringen military airfield
Meiringen airfield officially opened for business on 1 December 1941. The opening took place in the war year of 1941, when the prospects for our continued existence were far from rosy. Where are we today? What events have characterised the development of the airfield in the meantime? One thing is certain: the differences between then and now are enormous. Some things have stood the test of time and still have the same value today as they did back then. Many things have adapted, or had to adapt, to modern times. Experience the airfield atmosphere up close. Here you can find out more about the history, development, mission and organisation of Meiringen military airfield.
The exhibition includes an equipped Tiger F-5 fighter jet, an Alouette III, various jet engines, a flight simulator and other exhibits. Specialists are present on site to provide support, supervision and answer questions. Registration is not required. Tip Round off your visit with a stop at the Fliegertreff restaurant. There is a small kiosk with fan merchandise for sale. And you can watch the take-offs and landings from the restaurant's viewing terrace.
