From the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe to the Schilthorn Piz-Gloria. From Bachalpsee to the Staubbachfall Waterfall. From the Gelmer funicular to the Aare Gorge. On this page, we present the hotspots of the Jungfrau Region – and give you tips: Who do you tag in your posts? What time of day is the atmosphere at its best, when do you have the hotspot to yourself, on which side of the railway is it best to take a seat and what do you need to consider if you want to fly a drone?

Drone flights in the Jungfrau Region

The Jungfrau Region naturally offers breathtaking scenery for drone shots, but there are important rules to observe:

Drones are prohibited in Lauterbrunnen and on the Jungfraujoch . Lauterbrunnen is not a suitable place for drones due to the heavily frequented and narrow airspace, even for drones weighing less than 250 grams. In addition, no-fly zones such as nature reserves must be observed, where drone flights are not permitted without a special licence.

The drone and the pilot must also meet the requirements.
You can find all the information you need on the official website of the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA). www.bazl.admin.ch
There is also a map with all the no-fly zones and a checklist of what you need to do.

Please respect the law, nature and your fellow human beings. Thank you!

First - Top of Adventure
First Flyer
Jungfrau Railways. CC0 (OpenData)

Secured in a sturdy harness, you can race down from First to Schreckfeld. You then fly up to the summit again in the clutches of an eagle - and then back to the intermediate station of the gondola lift. The two attractions are called First Flyer and First Glider. On the 800-metre-long route on the steel cable, you will be travelling at over 80 km/h - and in some places you will be hovering 50 metres above the alpine meadows. Action is also guaranteed on the First Mountain Cart - a cross between a go-kart and a sledge. The panoramic view from the First Cliff Walk is spectacular. The steel construction runs along the cliff - and ends with a 45 metre long walkway out into the void. Wow! Also unique: the First View viewing platform.

Good to know:

  • For safety reasons, mobile phones and cameras may not be carried loose on the First Glider and First Flyer. We recommend that you use a holder (e.g. for your wrist).
  • In summer there can be long waiting times. Therefore: arrive as early as possible.
  • Insider tip: Spend the night at the First mountain inn - for photos of the starry sky at night.

Afterwards, you can pose with the instrument in front of the mountain backdrop. And afterwards? Crawl onto a rocky outcrop at the risk of your life to reach for the pearl of the Alps? Not at all. You don't need to put yourself in unnecessary danger to see the edelweiss up close. In the Schynige Platte Alpine Garden, it grows in an easily accessible environment together with the black man's-foot trefoil, the paradise lily and around 650 other species. You can marvel at two-thirds of the entire alpine flora on a one-kilometre walk.

Good to know:

And in summer, you can view it from behind thanks to a specially designed gallery. Entry is free of charge. Even the world-famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was inspired by the impressive waterfall and wrote the poem "Gesang der Geister über den Wassern" in 1779. By the way: the frozen waterfall is also an eye-catcher in winter.
