Jungfrau Railway

The Jungfrau Railway was opened in 1912. Construction took 16 years. The cog railway takes passengers from Kleine Scheidegg at 2,061 metres above sea level to the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe at 3,454 metres above sea level, the highest railway station in Europe. At the intermediate station Eismeer, the trains stop for five minutes. Through the large viewing windows, passengers can enjoy a fascinating view of the impressive mountain landscape.

Along the approximately 9 km route, the railway climbs around 1,400 metres in altitude in about 35 minutes. Most of the journey runs through the inside of the mountain.
