The Legend Trail Stechelberg leads from the hamlet of Sandbach into the valley background near Rütti. At six posts, you will be whisked away into the different peculiarities of the Lauterbrunnen legends. The route is 3.9 kilometres long and takes approximately 70 minutes to walk.
Legends are orally transmitted tales of extraordinary events that are said to have taken place in well-known places and locations and which, even if they seem strange or even incomprehensible, are believed to be true.

People live close to this mighty nature, in close contact with its forces and manifestations. Settlers from different cultural areas, first the Alemanni with their Nordic-influenced mythology and later the Walser from the Lötschental with their nature-based religious customs, gave rise to a multilayered popular belief in our valley.
