Top of Swiss Tradition at 2076 metres above sea level.

The cogwheel railway climbs 1420 metres in altitude on its 7.255 km journey from Wilderswil to the Schynige Platte.

Along the way, the diversity of nature is impressive: forests, alpine meadows and the magnificent views of the famous landscapes of the Bernese Oberland with Lakes Thun and Brienzersee.

Further up, the foothills of the Alps give way to a clear view of the gleaming white triumvirate of the Bernese Alps. The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau lie directly opposite. The change of scenery after passing through the "Grätli Tunnel" (5.6 km) is unique.

The Schynige Platte Railway opened for operation on 14 June 1893. The railway has been running electrically since 1914, with a large part of the fleet of carriages and locomotives coming from the old stock of the Wengernalp Railway. The Schynige Platte Railway is therefore also a testimony to the history of Jungfrau railways.
