Ski- & training Areas
Who invented them? The Swiss. No, unfortunately not. Let's be honest. In this case, it wasn't us. We imported the two wooden slats with bindings from the north. Nothing wrong with that. Now skis are here to stay – and can be brilliantly showcased in the Jungfrau Region.
Many paths lead to the ski area – by cable car, gondola or train. It's amazing how close we are to the majestic, ice-capped mountains up here. Elegant panorama.
Swishing down the slope against the backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks is simply sublime. We can even race down the world-famous Lauberhorn trail. No joke. Well, maybe it'd be better to take it a bit easier on the way down. That thing's pretty steep.
We take the gondola high up the sun-drenched mountain. We definitely recommend sunscreen. We soon see the White Elements Snowpark below us where snowboarders and freestylers are practising their gnarly tricks. If we would rather not fly through the park, we can also kick-start our adrenalin with the First Flyer.
The mountain HE skied down. In his sexy blue one-piece. James Bond 007. Working on His Majesty's behalf. The equipment and the slopes have changed a bit in the meantime, but the James Bond feeling is still omnipresent on the Schilthorn.
Not bad. The ski centre offers us a permanent racing and training track that meets international standards. Ideal for honing our skills on skis. And if we aren’t quite advanced enough to race, Skihäsliland is a stress- and problem-free place to practice.
