Cheese, cheese - and more cheese

Switzerland is a cheese country. Some offers in the Jungfrau Region are also aimed at cheese lovers. You can enjoy a fondue in a gondola. Or take your next hike with a fondue rucksack under your feet. Or would you like to be part of the cheese-making process? Or visit a cheese ripening camp? Or experience how alpine cheese is divided in a "Chästeilet" according to an old custom? Or...?

Fondue gondola in Wengen

At the auction of over 200 gondolas from the old Grindelwald-Männlichen railway, the Alpine Hotel Wengen was able to get its hands on one of the coveted cabins. A real piece of nostalgia. It now stands in the hotel garden, has been extended - and offers you a perfect fondue tête-à-tête.

"Chästeilet" in the Jungfrau Region

At a "Chästeilet", the cheese produced on the alp in summer is divided up among the farmers. Whether on the Hasliberg, on the Winteregg or in Wengen - this custom is always celebrated with a festival. A rich musical programme, culinary offerings, a large selection of alpine products and much more await you. The "Chästeilet" usually takes place in September.
